The International Music Festival “Grand Piano in Palace” 2018

At the International Competition Festival of Chamber, Vocal and Piano Music summed up the first results. More than seventy young soloists performed classical works in the White Hall of the Marble Palace. The youngest participants are only 5 years old. The venue where lectures and workshops will be held is unique in its role in the cultural heritage of Russia. The Union of Composers still functions at the House of Composers (Princess Gagarina’s mansion). The Union is one of the oldest and significant artistic organizations in Russia regarding its intellectual potential. Historical instruments including favorite grand pianos of  Rodion Shchedrin, Sergei Rachmaninov and Dmitri Shostakovich will be used during performances and master classes. Each participant will have an opportunity to sense the history and feel a special atmosphere of the House of Composers performing at the concert hall that witnessed Sergei Prokofiev, Mstislav Rostropovich, Galina Vishnevskaya and many others. The mansion is also widely known due to its exceptional architecture and interiors. Both the interior and the building itself are representation of the first Art Nouveau constructions in St. Petersburg.
